Birthday Surprise

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Another birthday card for an energetic little boy! I hope he enjoyed the giant Bakugan.

Birthday Card
Stamp set: Birthday Surprise (Close To My Heart, retired)
Inks: Black, Copic markers
Papers: Stardust level 2 paper pack (Close To My Heart)
Other: QuicKutz alphabet

Here’s a close up of the Copic coloring. I’m so spoiled now, I don’t think I can ever go back to regular markers. It’s just like me and tomatoes – I never really cared for them until I had Roma tomatoes, and now I can’t go back! auugghh!!

And may I present to you, Kit …
six legged cat
The Six-Legged Cat! Actually, he looks like something from Alice In Wonderland, doesn’t he?

Monday, November 17th, 2008

That last layout got me into a scrapbooking mood. I always thought the Whoops A Daisy papers were too bright, but it fit perfectly with these photos. Close To My Heart’s Imagine layout idea book helped immensely!

My CTMH Convention roommate and new friend Charla Lang made me this cool squashbook:

Squashbook1

I finally got a chance to put my convention photos in it. The cover:

I wanted to keep the embellishments flat, so it would still fold together nicely. One side:

Using Up Retired Papers

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

Merry Christmas everybody! It’s a wet Christmas morning here in Hawaii.

After all the Christmas Crazies, I caught a breather and was able to sit down and figure out how to use up old old retired papers. At first, I just punched some big circles out of it:
Retired papers A

Then I tried to make a flower to put on there:
Retired papers B

But that didn’t look so great. So I tried stamping and punching that out:
Retired papers C

Now that just doesn’t look right. So I tried another stamp:
Retired papers D

Still doesn’t look right. I’m going to try a die cut instead:
Retired papers E

Ah, you can’t see white on white. How about another color:
Retired papers F

Now we’re getting somewhere! Since I’m trying to use up retired stuff, I might as well throw in some retired ribbon and retired brads, too. The final product:

For Every Occasion

Stamp set: For Every Occasion by Close To My Heart
Papers: Clover Meadow B&T (retired), Husk, White Daisy and Hollyhock cardstock by Close To My Heart
Inks: Black
Die cut: Flower in Circle by QuicKutz
Other: Clover Meadow gingham ribbon (retired), Copper big brad (retired) by Close To My Heart

Woooo, I like it! And since I have so much paper, I made about 30 cards Yaaay!!

And I say,
Jax in the box 2
“Jax, that box is not big enough.”

Christmas Tags

Monday, November 12th, 2007

My friend Wanda asked about making some Christmas Tags. After taking out inks, paints, powders, die cuts, punches, and templates, I had a few failures:

Tag Trials

But I did like these:

Xmas Tags

Stamps from Stampin’ Up! and Close To My Heart, die cuts from Sizzix and QuicKutz, punches and glitter gel pens from Marvy Uchida, gold powder Perfect Pearls from Ranger, Twinkling H2Os, inks from Close To My Heart and Tsukineko. Whew!

Four small tags, from one huge mess:

Brownies Layout

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

Chelsea has finished her first year of Brownies! They celebrated at the troop leader’s house, and had a pool party. Time for another Becky Higgins sketch from her second fabulous book:

You know, I had forgotten how much fun scrapbooking is. And it is so much quicker and easier with a sketch in front of you. I chose one from the 6-7 photos section, and ta daaaaa:

More To Adore 1
More To Adore 2

Papers: More To Adore level 2 paper pack (Close To My Heart)
Other: Die cuts, Sunshine alphabet (QuicKutz)

And Kit tells my husband, “You work, I’ll nap behind your monitor.”
