Smiles Card

Monday, April 26th, 2010

My card club just had a meeting, and I wanted to use the Smiles stamp set. This card uses the same pattern as a card in the spring catalog, just different papers and colors:

Smiles
All items from Close To My Heart unless stated otherwise:
Stamp sets: Smiles, Fringed Phrases
Inks: Cocoa, Topiary, Cranberry, Twilight, Honey
Papers: Grace level 2 paper pack
Other: Pewter photo hanger, Twill ribbon, colored pencil, Coluzzle tag template

And here’s the close-up! I mounted the flowers on adhesive foam so they pop off the card a little.

Speaking of smiles, I ran across this video that was so funny I almost cried! My daughter loves Taylor Swift, and I get to hear this song over and over. If you know the lyrics to the original, that makes this even funnier! Dedicated to my cousins Kathryn and Sheryl, who I’m sure can relate to this:

Valentine’s Day candy holder

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

I only just realized I never posted this – sorry! This pattern was cased from my friend Sue Laufer. A bunch of these were handed out to my co-workers:

Treat holder
Stamp sets: Playful Flourishes, Say It In Style by Close To My Heart
Inks: Cranberry
Papers: Autumn Terracotta, Sunflower, Colonial White cardstock, Background and Texture Combo Autumn paper pack
Other: Organdy ribbon, Nestabilites heart and scalloped heart dies, Coluzzle circle cutter

I made it orange to match the foiled chocolates. Why does Dove only use the pinks and reds on the milk chocolates? The dark chocolates always have some other color. No fair!

And Mittens says,

“I’m not moving until I get a kitty treat.”

Feathery Flakes

My friend Sue invited me to her house, and we made the cutest Christmas treat bags! It was so cute, I immediately went home and copied it (Thanks Sue!).

Christmas Tags

Monday, November 12th, 2007

My friend Wanda asked about making some Christmas Tags. After taking out inks, paints, powders, die cuts, punches, and templates, I had a few failures:

Tag Trials

But I did like these:

Xmas Tags

Stamps from Stampin’ Up! and Close To My Heart, die cuts from Sizzix and QuicKutz, punches and glitter gel pens from Marvy Uchida, gold powder Perfect Pearls from Ranger, Twinkling H2Os, inks from Close To My Heart and Tsukineko. Whew!

Four small tags, from one huge mess:

I’ve got new neighbors! The lights are finally on in the house next door. I think I’ll bring a little something over to them with a card. Here’s the mess I made trying to decide which stamp set and colors to use:

So Jen is having another Sketch Challenge, and I needed to make some thank-you’s for customers. I wanted to use a new stamp set, but use up old papers. This was just purrrrfect!

New Toy – Cuttlebug Embossing Folders and Dies

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Now that I’ve had my food for creativity (pizza and coffee coffee coffee), I want create some more!

I have owned the original Sizzix machine and Quickutz, but after seeing Jen’s baby card, I HAD TO get a Cuttlebug. Had to. You should have heard me squeal when I first saw that card!

I got some Cuttlebug embossing folders and dies, and tried them in my good ol’ Sizzix with converter. It came out okay, but if you look really closely, you can see the lines the edge of the converter made when I squashed the cardstock down. So now I’m out to get a Cuttlebug. I considered a Big Shot, but I need something that won’t take up so much space.

So now I’m trying to copy Jen’s card, and it is not as good, but I’m working on getting better:

RandomThoughts01

Stamps (sentiment): Random Thoughts (Close To My Heart)
Inks: Baby Pink, Bubblegum (Close To My Heart)
Papers: Baby Pink, White Daisy, Grey Flannel cardstock (Close To My Heart)
Embossing folders: Baby words, Stitched square (Cuttlebug)
Die cut: Giraffe (Cuttlebug), Tag (Coluzzle)
Other: star brads and ribbon (both from Close To My Heart)

I like it, I like it! But I’d like it even more if I had a Cuttlebug, lol!! Okay, am I getting weird? OH, I see. I’m always like that. I’d better get some sleep.
