The “cat tree” is right by my sewing machine. Have you ever felt like you were being watched? ….

Happy Birthday Card

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

This past weekend, I just met the nicest bunch of gals! I wasn’t sure how much they knew about CTMH, so I just had a simple card for them to make:

Happy Holidays Card
All items from Close To My Heart unless stated otherwise
Stamp sets: Happy Birthday, Happy Holidays, Connections
Inks: Desert Sand, Pear, Smoothie
Papers: Olivia level 2 paper pack
Other: Liquid Glass, Prisma Glitter, Nestabilites circle and scalloped circle die, deckle edged scissors

It turns out, they knew a LOT about stamping. Some of them had been meeting regularly for fifteen years!! Whoa!
Happy Holidays - Close up

And other news: My friend Lisa stopped by to visit on her way back to Washington from China. She has her own Stamp Happy blog – go and check it out. Thanks for coming to see me Lisa! We were able to sneak in a photo of us in my sewing cave downstairs.

And Jax says,
Jean, Lisa, and Jax!
“Say chee…Hey is that a gecko?”

Happy Holidays for Baby Boy

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

Here’s the baby boy version of yesterday’s card, using the same sketch, paper pack, and ink colors. I’ve always loved the Creative Basics paper collections, but so far, this one is my favorite. See yesterday’s post for the Baby Girl version.

Happy Holidays
All items from Close To My Heart unless stated otherwise:
Stamp sets: Happy Holidays, Sweet Baby
Inks: Chocolate, Sweet Leaf, Hollyhock, Crystal Blue
Papers: Cherry-O Creative Basics collection
Other: Cocoa designer ribbon, Nestabilities oval and scalloped oval dies

Can you spot all the cat toys in this picture? And what does Mittens choose to do? Lie in the box.

And Mittens says,

Happy Holidays for Baby Girl

All those little circles in CTMH’s Happy Holidays set attract me, like little round magnets stuck to the fridge. I scanned a ton card patterns on the Mojo Monday Sketch Blog, and found one that would work perfectly:

Fruitful Delight

Friday, August 13th, 2010

I love fruit stamps! This one looks so elegant, I wasn’t sure I would do the stamp set justice. I’m not exactly the “elegant” type of stamper. How do you think it turned out?

Stamp sets: Fruitful Delight, Thank You
Inks: Black, Brown Bag, Cocoa, Copic markers
Papers: Passages level 2 paper pack
Other: Nestabilities circle and scalloped circle dies, Twill ribbon

Something Splendid

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

The August Stamp of the Month features a large daisy. It was so large, I wasn’t sure what to do with it! This is what I did with my card club:

Inks: Desert Sand, Topiary, Honey

I just got back from a Colorado vacation, where I rode a zip line for the first time. This is me, jumping off a cliff!

You’re Sweet Card

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

I was surfing the net looking for card ideas, when I saw Susan’s cute card here. I must use it at my next card club meeting! So first off, I start doing some random stamping when it occurs to me –
You're Sweet Card step 1
If I’ve got six ladies doing this kind of stamping at my house with just one set of stamps and ink pads, it’s going to take forever! I’d better stop now and just cover up the rest with something.

You're Sweet Card step 2
This is nice, but plain. What if I gave it a “shop awning” type of look?

You're Sweet Card step 3
Uh, no I don’t think so. Back to the bottom it goes.

You're Sweet Card step 4
That looks better! But Susan’s card used brads, so I’m trying to imagine what this is going to look like with these brads…then I realize that I don’t have enough of this color to give put on all the cards the club will be making. Time to improvise again!

You're Sweet Card step 5

So I finally end up with this:
You're Sweet Card
All items from Close To My Heart unless noted otherwise:
Stamp set: You’re Sweet
Inks: Sunny Yellow, Holiday Red, Orange, Citrus Leaf, Clover Meadow
Papers: Citrus Leaf, Clover Meadow, Orange, and White Daisy cardstock
Other: Nestabilities scalloped oval and oval dies, Fiskars Border punch, white grosgrain ribbon, foam mounting tape

Here’s the closeup:
You're Sweet Card close-up

And when I’m finally done, I’ve got a wonderful mess!
Crating Mess!
The only thing missing is Mittens sitting in the middle of it. Time to put away!!

Flower Pot Card

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Another card idea shamelessly stolen from my fabulous upline, Tina Sutton. You know, with all that she does, where does she find the time to make these?

Flower Pot
All items from Close To My Heart unless stated otherwise:
Stamp set: Flower Pot
Inks: Black, Copic markers
Papers: Sweet Home level 2 paper pack, Buttercup and White Daisy cardstock
Other: Gold brads, Colonial White ribbon, Nestabilities scalloped square die and tag die

And Kit says,
Bigger case of juice
“Couldn’t you find a BIGGER case of juice?”

One Of A Kind Card

Monday, February 8th, 2010

My card club had it’s first meeting for 2010, and I wanted to try and recreate a card that looks like the scrapbook page on the cover of the Close To My Heart 2010 Spring catalog. Here’s what I came up with:

One Of A Kind
All items from Close To My Heart unless noted otherwise:
Stamp set: One of a Kind
Inks: Cocoa, Creme Brulee
Papers: Veranda level 2 paper pack
Other: Just Blooms White Daisy paper flowers, pewter brads, gold brads, Nestabilities tag die

And Kit says,
IMG_0502
“That doesn’t look like your card.”

Holiday Warmth

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Another card from the October Stamp of the Month! I also used the back of the Jingle Creative Basics paper – I like this back better than the front. I wish the photo could capture the red Stickles on the tree…very sparkly:

Holiday Warmth
All items from Close To My Heart unless stated otherwise:
Stamp sets: Holiday Warmth, Say It In Style
Inks: Ponderosa Pine, Creme Brulee
Papers: Jingle Creative Basics collection, Creme Brulee and Ponderosa Pine cardstock
Other: Red Stickles, star punch, corner rounder, Cuttlebug embossing folder, Nestabilities ribbon slide die, Juniper ribbon

And Jax and Kit say,
