Birthday Surprise

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Another birthday card for an energetic little boy! I hope he enjoyed the giant Bakugan.

Birthday Card
Stamp set: Birthday Surprise (Close To My Heart, retired)
Inks: Black, Copic markers
Papers: Stardust level 2 paper pack (Close To My Heart)
Other: QuicKutz alphabet

Here’s a close up of the Copic coloring. I’m so spoiled now, I don’t think I can ever go back to regular markers. It’s just like me and tomatoes – I never really cared for them until I had Roma tomatoes, and now I can’t go back! auugghh!!

And may I present to you, Kit …
six legged cat
The Six-Legged Cat! Actually, he looks like something from Alice In Wonderland, doesn’t he?

Merry Monsters Hershey’s Miniatures Box

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

I made a whole bunch of these to give to my card club ladies and work friends. It is really small – the box is only 1.5 inches high! The squares that the monsters and stamped on are just one inch. Now I can say I’ve made inchies!

Copic Coloring

Monday, October 5th, 2009

I’m still coloring images that my friend Teri gave me (thank you Teri!!). After gaining loads of confidence from just coloring hair, I decided to try and do clothes as well:

Copic Coloring 1

Oooo! Now I know I haven’t practiced skin much, but I wanted to color a complete image:

Copic Coloring 2

and another:

Copic Coloring 3

I love it! Now if I could only find time to make those into cards…

I must mention here that both my kids tried out for 2 different school plays, and made it in. So now I’m on costume committees for both plays – haaaa! I may not be posting much for the next month as I sew snaps, darts, and hooks onto jackets and dresses. Eeep!

And Mittens says,

“I know there’s more ice in there!!”
Mittens and Ice 3
“Hey, where’d it all go?”

Copic Markers and Hair

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

My friend Teri gave me a bunch of terrific images, thank you Teri!!! These are perfect for coloring with Copic markers – but it intimidates me. I got my courage up after going to YouTube and typing “copic hair” in the search box, then watching several videos. Doesn’t look so hard, right? Here are my first attempts:

Copic Hair part 1

Hey, not bad, even if I do say so myself. In fact, I was thinking I need to save this as reference material now, and I can’t use the images. But look! I have saved it on Flickr, so now I can reference Flickr and use the images however I want. Yaaay! To see a close up of any of these photos, just click on it and visit my Flickr site. The actual image size is 2065 x 1684.

So then I try blonde and black hair, but get bored with “normal” colors and decide to try blue, red and purple:

Copic Hair part 2

Aha, I like it! Must try more wild hair colors!!

Copic Hair part 3

The blending on this one is so subtle, it doesn’t show up well in the photo. But looks nice in real life. I think I’ve got the hang of it!

And Mittens says,
Mittens and Ice 1
“Oooo, ice is cold stuff. Me LIKEY!”

Mellie Card

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

My niece is 14! She loves anime and drawing, so I bought her more Copic markers to add to her collection. I actually found anime-like stamps, and had to use it for her card. Getting the brush tip into those small stamped areas is a pain – I might start changing the chisel tip for a fine tip.

Mellie

Inks: Black by Pallette, New England Ivy by Close To My Heart
Markers: Copic
Papers: Boom Di Ada Creative Basics Collection by Close To My Heart

Happy Birthday Nicki!!!

And Kit says,

“Can I eat this?”

I got this cute set from Jen’s online store, Little C’s:

There’s my little Copic test sheet, right next to my cup of Kona coffee. MMMmmmmm. I love that spotted paper from Close To My Heart. It just reminds me of chocolate with sprinkles! So here’s the card. I stamped and colored all those ice cream cones, by the way. I am just loving those Copic markers:
