Friday, December 7th, 2007

Am I the only person with the Scrapbook Rewards VISA card? I don’t know anyone else who has it. Sure, getting cash back is fine, but I’m getting scrapbooking stuff!! I finally built up enough points to get the Memory Makers organizer kit:

Scrapbook Rewards

I love it! And it fit just perfectly where I wanted to put it.

And the Kit says,
Just chillin’

..and I got to see the bean! I don’t know what the real name of this sculpture is, but if you mention “the bean”, all the locals know what you’re talking about. Does anyone know this sculpture’s name? I’ll be posting more later!

Answering Questions – More Stamping Stuff

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

Here are answers to some of the questions I received. If anyone wants to ask more, just comment on this post, or send me an e-mail!

Angel says, “My question is “What is your favorite color combo?” I love finding new combinations!”

Right now, I am just loving Chocolate, Orange, and Bubblegum. See the bottom of this post for a card I made using this combo.

Denise asks, “Do you have trouble getting your acrylic CTMH stamps clean after using stazon ink on them?”

Yep. When using StazOn, I resign myself to the fact that I am permanently staining My Acrylix. But I still love ‘em.

Janet Allen says, “I love to stamp but have a difficult time deciding how to color in the image. Any suggestions? Do you prefer markers, H2O’s, colored pencils, watercolor crayons? HELP!”

To color in images, I have used markers, Twinkling H2O’s, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, chalks, and a waterbrush with dye inks. I really enjoy them all, but will choose depending on my mood, or the mood I’m trying to create with the stamping. These days, I decide by trying to figure out how much time I have (bleah). So that means anything that uses water is out…too hard to set up, too messy, too bad. Chalks take up a bit of time too, and can get dusty. So the markers or colored pencils have been winning out. One day, some day, I’ll take out those beautiful Twinkling H2O’s again….

Teri says, “My question to you is, what’s your favorite new product?”
The new distressing kit!! I love the inks and edge distresser. The cute sandpapers and sponges with handles are cool, too.

And that’s it for now. More answers coming soon!

Take Ten Autumn 2007

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007

I’m lying in bed looking at one of my favorite card magazines, Take Ten by Stampington & Company. And I’m thinking, “I haven’t submitted any cards in a while. Maybe I should do that again.” THEN I glance over page 85 and see my card! AAAaaaa! I’m on page 85!! It is using an old stamp set, and some very retired paper, which gives you a clue to how long ago I sent that card in. Now I’m all jazzed to send in more!!

Answering Questions from Brenda H

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Brenda H asks a bunch of questions: 1. Which paper cutter do you own?

I’ve got the big clunky Fiskars rotary cutter.

2. And, do you LOVE it?
Yes, I do. It has a permanent spot on my crafting desk, and although it is usually buried under piles of papers, I do use it a lot. My cats sometimes think it is a good spot to hang out and watch me.

5. Do you absolutely LOVE your Cuttlebug?

Oooohhhh yes yes yes!!

6. Is the Cuttlebug one of your “can’t live without” cardmaking products?(I’m still saving my pennies for it!)

The reason I love the Cuttlebug is because of those terrific embossing folders. It is quick, easy, and looks great. Have you ever done embossing the old fashioned way, with a stylus and lightbox? Ack! That being said, I could live without it if I had to, and go back to the old fashioned methods. But that would really depress me! It is a really cool tool…keep saving for it! When you do get yours, send me a photo of your first creation!

7….or do you think it’s just a “fad” that’ll be out, before I get mine?

Ah, a difficult question to answer. I believe the Cuttlebug will be around for a long time, just because they have the best embossing folders. But isn’t everything about our hobby just a fad? There is always some new thing to try. The only true “staples” for scrapbooking are paper, scissors, photos, a pen, and glue. Nowadays, you don’t even need paper! We’ll be doing all our scrapbooking online.

8. Where did you purchase all your Cuttlebug embossing folders & dies?

I purchased a bunch from Busy Bee Scrapbooking, because they give a good deal on shipping, especially to ship way out to Hawaii. I also bought a bunch of stuff through my friend Jen, the good fun crazy lady.
