Wanda’s Quilt – Swanky

The tsunami (that wasn’t) disrupted my Saturday just enough to get this done:

It uses the Swanky fabric line from Moda, which I had in Jelly Roll form.

I used the same pattern that I made my S’mores quilt from. Wow, that was almost a year ago! The pattern is in this book:

It makes me so happy to use sale fabric for backing! I must have got this fabric at $3.95 a yard.

Betty’s Quilt – Nostalgia

I made this one for my mom, using just the pink and brown fabrics from a couple of Moda Layer Cakes (10″ squares of fabric). My son is holding it up at my mom’s house. It’s good to have a 6′ tall quilt holder! See his feet?

The pattern comes from Pie Plate Patterns, from their book titled “Piece of Pie”. This quilt top was done incredibly fast…just two evenings!

I might have been done in one evening if I had matching border fabric on hand. More reason to build up my stash!

Sympathy Card

Have you ever felt like…”I really should make a bunch of these because when the time comes, I’m just not in the mood?” But then that time never comes, and you need another sympathy card. *sigh* This one is for a terrific Girl Scout troop leader whose mother is no longer with us.

This is the cutest stamp set! I used the Caboodle papers because the Sorbet color is my favorite. Oranges! We need more shades of it!!

Love Is In The Air Quilt

I love seeing the projects on Elizabeth Hartman’s Oh Fransson! blog. I liked them so much, I went to Elizabeth’s Etsy store and got the MixTape Quilts pattern. I got this done in time for Valentine’s day, using just a few layers of Moda’s Love Is In The Air fabrics from a layer cake (forty 10″ squares).

This is the baby size, and this will be going on my wall. I quilted hearts in each square:

At first I didn’t think I’d like it, but the further along I got, the better it looked!

All that white! I like the look so much, I’ll be using it again.

I even like the backing…got it on sale, 50% off at my local fabric shop. Yay!!

Valentine’s Day Candy Bar Card

I made a bunch of these to give out at work. When I first showed it to my husband, he had NO IDEA there was a candy bar in there. You should have seen his eyes get big when I pulled it out, ha ha!

My card club had it’s first meeting for 2010, and I wanted to try and recreate a card that looks like the scrapbook page on the cover of the Close To My Heart 2010 Spring catalog. Here’s what I came up with:

Chocolate Wrapper and Tag

Recently, I had to go through a co-worker’s computer programming code to figure out how he did something. This is not always an easy task. All you other programmers out there know what I mean – other people’s code can be full of strange logic and disagreeable methods. But while going through the code, it suddenly came to me…this code is wonderful! It’s a pleasure to look at. It’s beautiful. It’s just like how I would have done it, therefore…it’s PERFECT.

I MUST tell him. And what better way to express perfection than giving a Godiva chocolate bar with a big tag?
