Tranquility Quilt

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

I used two “layer cakes” (a stack of 40 different fabrics, cut into 10″ x 10″ squares) to make this quilt. The fabric line is called “Tranquility” by Moda fabrics. I was inspired by this quilt top made with “Nest” fabrics.

I really like the simple pattern and coordinating fall colors. I had a few extra squares, so they got incorporated into the backing. Here’s Chelsea on a chair peeking over the top:

This one was completed between my son’s high school play and my daughter’s middle school play. I helping with their costumes, but I have no clue how to sew clothing. My role was to do mostly handstitching, which was fine by me! A closeup:

This was my first quilt with Warm and Natural batting, and I LIKE IT. I need to buy a bunch of this stuff when it goes on sale.

I tried a bunch of different backgrounds for this card, but they all looked too busy. I finally settled for the single stamp across the center:

Holiday Trinkets Card

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

I wanted to make a quick, simple card. Especially after that last one with all the embossing, glitter glue, and rhinestones! It’s hard to see, but there is Liquid Glass dotted on the ornaments in the middle of the snowflakes:

My husband cut some holes in a box and taped it to the floor, just to mess with the cats. And Kit says,
